The New Research Building 2 project aims to construct an eight-story research laboratory building to accommodate laboratories, research facilities, offices, and support spaces. The project also includes a pedestrian linkage to the Lee Shau Kee Business School Building for improving the accessibility to the main campus. There will be about 60 car parking spaces with electric vehicle charging facilities. Most of the academic space will be open laboratories, research facilities, and write-up space for use by around 300 faculty members, research staff, and postgraduate students at HKUST. Additionally, the building will have an exhibition gallery on the ground floor for public education and knowledge-sharing activities.
